The support MHS receives from its alumni, parents and community is unmatched. This partnership will continue to ensure that will be the spotlight high school on the South Coast! We are working hard to ensure that will be recognized once again as a top performing school in academics, athletics and student activities throughout the state of Oregon. As we look towards the future we will continue to strive for improvement in all areas. Our AVID program will be in its 3rd year of implementation, along with our senior portfolio program. Both of these programs have seen great results and we look forward to future growth. I am pleased to announce that has just completed the Advanced Ed 5 year accreditation process with flying colors. This process took an in-depth look at all systems and procedures throughout the school as well as a compressive review of our curriculum and instructional strategies. The committee spent several days reviewing data, observing classroom and meeting with a wide variety of students, staff, parents and community members. A big thank you to those of you who were part of this process. Our focus moving forward is simple, meeting every students needs and ensuring that each and every student has a clear, well defined post-secondary plan, I’m confident that we will graduate seniors that are prepared to be successful and productive in their adult years. For generations the Coos Bay community has recognized the value of educational, athletic and extracurricular activities.
